Open Your Mouth and Shout

“Sing for joy to God our strength;

    shout aloud to the God of Jacob.”

Psalm 81:1

What are you shouting about today?

Too often the shout is reserved for angry moments.

A sports fan may use it at the park or field.

But shouting as worship?

No way!

Way!

Shouting is mentioned over 150 times in scripture and is most often used along with the word ‘joy’ as in shouts of joy!

If there are any people on earth who have reason to shout for joy it is the redeemed.

Make a promise to yourself –

The next time you raise your voice to shout let it be a shout of joy for the goodness of God in your life

          Shouting and singing should mark our worship to God.

Sure, there is a time in worship to be still and to quietly wait on God but there is also a time to shout for joy –

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;

Psalm 98:4

Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!

Psalm 118:15

“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’”

Jonah 2:9
