Recognize, Repent and Move On

“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
I John 1:8

Really?
They seem too crazy for anyone to believe and yet...
The lengths we go to in avoiding calling sin what it is – S-I-N.
Two recent headlines:
“Prince Charles: ‘Climate Change’ Root Cause of Syrian War.”
“Scientist Declared ‘Global Warming’ Caused Hitler.”
I am not writing today’s post to debate with anyone over the ‘merits’ or not of ‘global warming’ or the now more politically correct term ‘climate change’.
Rather, it is to point out how far we go to be politically correct when it comes to our spiritual well-being.
We have all these different ways of avoiding the truth that sin is sin.
Adultery is ‘an affair’.
We commit ‘white lies’ and call people ‘good witches’.
Those words roll off our tongue so much easier than the word ‘sin’.
This is not a post meant to condemn.
Rather it is calling each of us who are followers of Christ not to whitewash the sin in our own lives by labeling it as something else as if the ‘something else’ to try and make it more palatable and void of the need for repentance.
Did you sin today?
Confess it to God, repent and move forward.
We dance around what it is called so that we can avoid the painful part – repent – and when we do that we are at a standstill and not able to move forward in that area of our lives.
God knows what it is so why not be honest with Him and with yourself.
Jesus said to a certain woman –
Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.”
She did not attempt to deny or whitewash her sin.
As far as I know she didn’t try to blame it on climate change.
Let’s commit to being honest today and recognizing sin for what it is in our lives knowing that Jesus paid the penalty for our sin.
We need not whitewash it but we recognize, repent and move on!
