“Many people, because they had heard that he had
performed this sign,
went out to meet him.”
John 12:18
Have you read the verse above?
O.K, what’s your first question?
Let me guess: What was ‘this sign’ that the verse refers too?
Does it matter?
Maybe not as much as we think!
Hebrews 8:13 tells us:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and
forever.”
Jesus was the same the day before the sign was
performed.
Jesus was the same the day after the sign was
performed.
For all of humanity the single most important question
to ask is not what sign will Jesus perform for me but rather what will you do
about Jesus Christ?
Sometimes a very large crowd.
It’s easy to become anonymous in a crowd.
It’s also very easy to be so absorbed in the signs and
wonders that we miss the person of Jesus Christ and what He has done, and will
do, in our lives.
Jesus called men to “Follow me.”
He never called them to follow the signs and wonders He
performed.
Don’t get me wrong, I truly believe signs and wonders
are to be part of what follows every believer.
But that is just it – they are what follow us and not
what we follow after!
Follow after Jesus.
Still want to know what the sign was?
