“Be very careful,
then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity,
because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the
Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.
Instead, be filled
with the Spirit,”
Acts 1:4
Nope, there is no
mistake here.
The verses above are
the same ones from yesterday.
I want you to notice,
in particular, both the beginning and the end of these verses.
What do you note?
There is a command
that opens the verses and a command that closes them.
“Be very careful,
then, how you live…be filled with the Spirit.”
I am paraphrasing
here but someone once wrote:
The unexamined life
is not worth living.
Do you ever examine
how carefully you are living your life?
Are you wise or
unwise in how you live?
Are you filled with
the Spirit?
All questions worth
asking.
All answers worth
knowing.
I hope it does not
take a lot to convince you of the truth that the days are evil.
Read your paper,
watch the news, and open the internet.
Each will provide
ample evidence of a world steeped in evil excesses.
So we need to be the contrast to what
current culture offers.
Salt and light Jesus
would say.
Life holds little value
to most?
We need to treasure
Gods’ gift of life.
A world filled with self-centered
gratification?
Be one who puts Jesus
Christ first.
“Be very careful,
then, how you live…Be filled with the Spirit.”
