“Give us aid
against the enemy,
for human help is worthless.
With God we will gain the victory,
and he will trample down our enemies.
Psalm 108:12-13
As the Psalmist
wrote the words posted above
Israel was surrounded
by nations that despised both her and the God she worshipped.
(Hmm, that
sounds vaguely similar to today doesn’t it?)
Back then some
of those nations were Moab, Edom and Philistia.
But the wisdom of
God’s Spirit informed the Psalmist as he penned these words:
“…for human help
is worthless.”
Human help –
even when it seems to be 100X greater than the struggle you are facing – is still
worthless compared to Gods’ strength!
Sometimes we may
seem overwhelmed by so many struggles but when we admit our weakness, humble
ourselves and submit to Gods’ deliverance; He doesn’t merely ‘eke out’ a slim
victory, He tramples down our enemies.
Maybe today you
are not facing Moab, Edom and Philistia but the enemies you are facing go by
the names of financial ruin, health problems or ______________ (you fill in the
blank).
Recognize that there
will be times in your life when human help is indeed worthless.
Instead of
turning to man for solutions, with confidence declare:
“My help comes
from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”
Goliath
certainly had it over David when it came to physical strength and stature.
But Goliath didn’t
know the God David knew and trusted in.
He didn’t know
the Mighty Fortress, the High Tower and the Rock of Refuge.
David may have
been puny and a dog in Goliath’s eyes but God was David’s strength.
And, when a weak
man trusts in THE strong God giants
start tumbling to earth!
How about you?
Do you need some
giants trampled on?
Call out to God!
