“Whoever does not
love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4:8
Today as the church gathered
we were challenged to come up with one word that defined the word supernatural.
It was not as easy a task
as you might think.
Then we set about trying
to comprehend the phrase supernatural
love and it became even more difficult to capture it with words.
Oh, I know what you’re
thinking – supernatural love is the love the Father demonstrated
to us when He sent
His Son to die on the cross for us.
Yes, but how is that supernatural
love manifested in your daily life?
Ouch, that really is
where the rubber meets the road.
Sometimes as believers
I think we quote John 3:16 and live as if the part where it says
“…so loved the world…”
is meant only to be in
the past tense.
God is love.
Yes, He so loved
the world but He still does love the world.
Only today He wants
the world to see that love through you and me.
Do they?
Can they?
You argue – “I’m not
supernatural!”
You’re not?
I thought when we
became born-again we became partakers of the divine nature.
He has given us all
that we need to reflect that supernatural love in the earth.
The natural man wants
to contend with the new creation we have become so we find ourselves torn.
But that struggle
does not change the purposes of God for us.
We are to be His love
manifested to others.
That includes, in our
homes, in our workplaces, with friends, family and with our enemies.
You were good until
that last part snuck in weren’t you?
It’s not natural to
love our enemies, is it?
100% right!
It’s supernatural
love.
You were separated from
God.
You were His enemy.
He loved you, He did
then and He does now.
But now that He has
poured out His love into you He says –
Do for others what I
have done for you!
