Red Letter Words

In reading the Sermon on the Mount we find that Jesus made many particular statements and then expanded on those statements.
These statements are foundational truths we are called to live out.
Today, I want to list some of those for you.
My hope is that together we can read them and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us individually in any of these areas that He chooses to.
Jesus said:
Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men to be seen by them.
And when you pray…”
When you fast…”
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…”
“…do not worry about your life…”
Do not judge…”
Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Enter through the narrow gate…”
Watch out for false prophets…”
Jesus did, of course, expand on each of these statements to bring greater understanding.
For example – after telling us not to judge, He used the illustration of the speck of dust in someone else’s eye and the beam in our own.
May these words, along with the expanded text, challenge and spur us on to growth in Christ.
