Recommit to the Lord

Today's blog post was contributed by Denise Friedman:

“At the time of the sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed:  “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stone and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

– 1 Kings 18:36-38

We have recently been challenged to identify the idols in our lives and repair the altar within us.  We serve a Lord who is always faithful.  Now that he has repositioned us, we are able to call upon the Lord with a pure heart.  When we are again pure, we can offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to God.  He is encouraging you to spend time recommitting yourself to Him.  What is the Lord asking you to do today?  Ask him in faith and be assured he will answer you just as he answered Elijah immediately once the altar was rebuilt.

Precious Father, thank you that you are so merciful to purify us when we come to you to be cleansed.  We honor you today and recommit ourselves to you.  We come before you, ready to do your will as you reveal your plans to us.  Thank you always accepting our sacrifice to you when we are positioned as we should be.  We love you, O Sovereign Lord.
