Responding to a “Mary Moment”

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.
She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.
But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.
She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,  but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke10:38-42

It’s not about the message.
It’s all about Him.
It’s not about the music.
It’s all about Him.
It’s not about the method.
It’s all about Him.
When we set out to worship Him alone and linger in His
presence we are strengthened, and we are changed.
There were probably many “Martha” services today – serving, but not sitting at His feet.
Don’t misunderstand; clearly there is a time to serve and a time to minister to others.
But when a “Mary moment” comes to the house we need to sit at His feet and listen.
Have you sat at His feet and listened lately?
We tell Him that we love Him and that is good.
Sometimes, though it is better to be still in His presence and hear Him say to you:
“I love you!”
He does you know.
And He longs to remind us of that.
But we are off in the kitchen preparing a meal or out and about running in a thousand different directions but none of them leading us to Him.
Won’t you take some time this week and sit at His feet and listen?
