What a Lovely Thought?

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve
what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2

Suppose you were at home, looking out a front window to the street and noticed a florists’ delivery truck pull up in front of your house. It immediately catches your attention because you were not expecting any flowers and so you wonder why they have stopped there.
As you continue to watch you observe the driver in his crisp, clean uniform get out of the cab of the truck and come to your door with…a bag of garbage!
Surprised?
What’s your first thought?
It just doesn’t fit does it?
Florists deliver flowers not garbage.
Yet so often we play out a similar scenario with our thought life.
We are so enamored by the ‘packaging’ of the message that we fail to recognize the source of the thought.
We need to grow in our discernment so that we can recognize the source, even when it comes wrapped pretty and tied up with a bow. Sometimes we may receive a thought that sounds pretty good but in the end it is both deceiving and destructive.
I’ll give you one guess who the author of that thought is!
We were ready for flowers but ended up with garbage.
How different the thoughts of God are toward you and for you.
His thoughts of you are good.
Do you want to be transformed by the renewing of your mind?
Begin to grow in your recognition of the source of thoughts.
Ask God to reveal to you those that are not edifying, those that come from the enemy and ask Him to begin to show you how to receive Hs thoughts!
