Look for the Unexpected

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:

When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph,

before they came together,

she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”

Matthew 1:19 KJV

Do you search for the unexpected?

Gideon wasn’t expecting the angelic visitor as he hid from the Midianites.

Certainly John the Baptist’s father Zechariah did not expect the news he received as he served in the temple that day.

What about Mary?

She certainly was not anticipating hearing the message Gabriel delivered.

Yet each of them, and many more, played a part in the unfolding of God’s plans on the earth.

What about you?

If God sent an unexpected message, what would your response be?

Would you respond with a fleece as Gideon did, doubt like Zechariah or an obedient “Be it done unto me according to your word” like Mary?

We serve a King who sometimes comes in unexpected ways to bring about His purposes.

Even his trusted prophet Samuel favored the other sons of Jesse but God chose the unexpected David.

Let God be God in your life and in the coming days ahead.

Don’t panic when His plans unfold a little differently than you had expected.

Begin to look for the unexpected!
