Grace Wins

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind,

the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.”

I Timothy 2:5,6

Ransom: a consideration paid or demanded for the release of someone or something from captivity.

When the word ransom is defined in that way it seems so inadequate to the price that was paid on the cross.

Nothing less than the very Son of God shed His blood and poured out His life for the release from the bondage of sin that you and I were held in.

But notice that the ransom was not for us alone but “...for all people.”

That is the glorious message of the Gospel.

It is not a message made available through force or conscription either.

Grace makes it available to anyone.

You know that person you despise because of their vile behavior?

Grace is available.

What about the one about which you said:

“I could never forgive them!”

Grace is available to them as well.

It is never earned by our ‘good’ behavior

Nor is it voided by our ‘bad’ behavior.

It is, as the song says, Grace Wins Every Time...
