You will seek Me and
find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
You’ve probably seen the “Where’s Waldo” children’s books. They are those popular books made up of drawings
jam packed with people doing a variety of things at different locations. Readers are challenged to find the character
named Waldo hidden in the picture.
Waldo blends in very well, so it’s difficult to pick him
out of the crowd unless you look very hard and sometimes for long periods of
time. If you casually glance at the
picture, you will never find Him.
God is also not easy to find, on purpose. Sure, He’s always willing to quickly reveal
Himself, especially to those hearts seeking Him for the first time, but if we
want to get to know Him at a deeper level, we have to search for Him with great
effort above all other things.
The depth of how well we know God is directly related to
the effort we put into finding Him. Just
like any relationship, if we invest little effort in getting to know someone,
our understanding of that person will be shallow. God is no different.
Are you able to find God in the busy picture of your life
jam packed with its many distractions? If
you can’t find Him, keep looking. Don’t
give up. He’s there right in front of
you waiting to be found. He just wants
you to seek Him diligently like you would for any priceless treasure, only He
is worth far more than any treasures of this world.
I am told that you can train your eye to quickly find
Waldo. The more you look for him and
find him, the easier it becomes. Your
brain remembers the image and trains your eye what to look for.
The more you seek God, the easier it will become to find
Him. Our spirits will become so familiar
with His spirit that we will learn to quickly see Him in all
circumstances. Like a spiritual reflex,
our inner eyes will continually look to God throughout our day.
