“Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings
about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation
of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,”
Hebrews 6:1
Sometimes a sprint and sometimes a crawl!
That could describe spiritual maturity.
It seems to ebb and flow.
We can all identify with mountaintop and valley
experiences.
We can also recognize that there are seasons to our
walk with God.
So it should come as no surprise that there are times
it seems like every step forward is taken with the wind at our back while at other
times every step forward we take seems to be followed by two steps back.
Times when it seems the wind is opposing us and not
propelling us forward.
When that forward motion slows it is not the time to
let discouragement and self-pity win the day.
Let the Holy Spirit bring you through those moments.
Remember God doesn’t expect from us what He will not
equip us to do.
But also realize that every day is not a marathon or
even a sprint.
Does today find you struggling to believe?
Are you having trouble with the same old issues?
Don’t’ go backwards.
When you fail – and we all do at times – get back up
and keep moving forward.
One foot in front of the other!
