In Increasing Measure

 “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness;

and to goodness, knowledge;

and to knowledge, self-control;

and to self-control, perseverance;

and to perseverance, godliness;

and to godliness, mutual affection;

and to mutual affection, love.

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive

in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

2 Peter 1:5-8

Our walk with Christ is just that, a walk.

It is not a sit-in or nap time.

Peter writes this idea into his Epistle above with these words:

‘...in increasing measure...’

Not a ‘once and done’ measure but an increasing measure.

That reveals growth.

We were never meant to be saved just so we could go to heaven after we die.

We are ambassadors for Christ.

We are to be effective and productive in our knowledge of the One we represent.

Our walk with Him and our knowledge of Him should be intimate and growing day after day.

Oh sure, there will be setbacks.

But don’t let setbacks become excuses for not continuing on the journey.

Remember that perseverance is in the middle of the list in today’s scripture.

That means we continue on even in the midst of struggles.

Is your measure increasing as the days on the calendar of life move on?
