Being a Person of Fewer Words

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,

if you love one another.”

John 13:35

Imagine every believer in Christ suddenly rendered speechless.

Could the Gospel still be ‘preached’?

Some might vehemently declare: “Of course not!”

But stop for a moment and think about what that might cause us to do.

We would have to demonstrate the Gospel message of God’s grace.

What better way than to model the love of Christ to one another.

I think sometimes we talk too much and demonstrate too little.

Jesus was the Word that became flesh.

He came to reveal the Father.

This He did not only through preaching and teaching but also through fulfilling

Isaiah 61:1-2

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

because the Lord has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the prisoners,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor

and the day of vengeance of our God,

to comfort all who mourn,

For every ‘proclaim’ there was also a demonstration –

Proclaim good news and bind up the brokenhearted...

Proclaim freedom and release from darkness...

Proclaim the year of the Lords’ favor and comfort all who mourn...

Are you determined to demonstrate His love?

Maybe it will require a few less words and a few more actions!
