“So I say to you: Ask
and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be
opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to
the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Which of you
fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he
asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil,
know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in
heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Luke
11:9-13
But
here is an interesting question to consider.
Have
you settled the question?
“What
question?” you ask.
Do
you think that when you are in genuine pursuit of God and you ask Him for
something He is out to trick you or somehow deny what you are asking for?
Did
you catch that key phrase?
It
was ‘genuine pursuit’.
I am
not talking about a petition to gratify the flesh or a request that is contrary
to His will for you.
You’ve
come to Him and asked Him to fill you with more of His presence and power.
(That’s
part of His will for your life!)
You
desire to know Him more and make that request of Him.
(That’s
part of His will for your life!)
You
need direction and so you ask, seek and knock.
(That’s
part of His will for your life!)
How
do you suppose He would answer these requests?
Do
you imagine He is waiting to trick or deceive you?
Of
course not! That is the character of the devil and not of our Father.
Was
Jesus lying when He spoke what He did above?
Certainly
wasn’t!
Settle
the question.
God
loves you and delights to bring you closer to Him.
He
gives you the Holy Spirit, as Jesus declares above, and the Holy Spirit will be
your guide into all truth!
Have
you sought His guidance and direction today?
