“Suddenly a
sound like the blowing of a violent wind came
from heaven and
filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:2
Faithfulness and
suddenly; two interesting words that may not seem to be a matched set.
But consider this
‘sudden’ moment that happened
in the lives of some faithful men and woman.
One hundred and
twenty were gathered in the upper room.
But Paul tells
us in I Corinthians 15:6 that Jesus appeared to over five
hundred at one
time after His resurrection and before His ascension.
That leaves 380
unaccounted for at that ‘sudden’ moment.
Meaning over 70%
of those who had witnessed Jesus alive missed that Pentecost experience!
I cannot and
would not speculate as to why so many were absent at such a significant moment.
But I do know
that we are not ‘suddenly faithful’.
Faithfulness is
measured, not in moments, but in lifetimes.
Maybe today you
are waiting on God for a ‘sudden’ moment.
I am.
Don’t lose
heart.
Don’t give up.
After all, a
read of scripture seems to reveal that the ‘suddenly’ moments come to the
faithful!
