Anointed For a Palace but Living in a Cave

“David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam.
When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there.”
I Samuel 22:1

We see it over and over again the Bible.
Someone is called and anointed by God for great things but must first endure the road that takes them there.
Joseph would be second in command in Egypt but
his road took him through a pit and a prison.
David was anointed to sit on the throne of his nation but
his road took him into hiding in a cave.
Jesus would sit at the right hand of the Father with all power and authority given to Him
but His road took Him to the cross.
Each of them looked to a promise but lived in a present day
quite unlike they promise they hoped in.
But for each of them the circumstances of their ‘present day’ was the crucible through which God the Father molded and shaped them for the promise yet to be realized.
It is no different for you and me.
It is no different for the church.
There are many promises from God we have yet to apprehend.
But each of them sets us on a course where God tests and proves and prepares us.
Not all can reach the promise while remaining steadfast and faithful.
Has God promised you a palace and yet you find yourself in a cave?
Stay true to Him.
Remain steadfast in your devotion.
Be faithful in hungering and thirsting for more of Him.
At His time He will ‘suddenly’ bring you out of the cave to possess the palace!
