“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be
enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the
riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
and his
incomparably great power for us who believe.
That power is
the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ
from the dead
and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,”
Ephesians
1:18-20
How would you finish
the statement:
Because He lives ____________________________.
Well, if you’re
familiar with the song from a few years ago you likely completed it by saying:
“I can face
tomorrow”
Or
“All fear is
gone”
The answers can really
be as varied as there are people reading these words.
But each of
those statements should find their answer in none other than Jesus Christ.
We looked last
week at three proofs of Easter.
Namely, that
Jesus is who He said He was; He can be trusted and He has the power He claims.
But so often we
agree with those statements in a cerebral way and nothing more.
They are in our
head but fail to reach our hearts or our spirit.
It’s kind of
like the difference between a first-hand experience of sky-diving versus someone
telling you what it is like.
There is no
comparison between the two.
But more than
that – being an overcomer in life will never happen if you do not have the
power of God actively working in your
life!
You see, Jesus
didn’t just live 2000 year ago.
He has existed
in eternity.
He lives today
and His power is available to you today.
God has done
many wonderful acts in my life and I am grateful to Him for those things.
But I need Him
today.
You need Him
today.
Yesterday’s
works are to be remembered and God should be praised for them.
But He is not
through working in the earth and among men.
Maybe when the
songwriter penned the words:
“Because He
lives I can face tomorrow” it was because He knew that power of God in his life
in the here-and now struggles he was facing.
In the past, God’s
power was recorded in the scriptures.
Today let your
life be the “record” of Gods’ power!
