“Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with
people of low position.
Do not be conceited.”
Romans 12:16
“Live in harmony with one another.”
These are wise words to remember as each of us walks
through life.
But they are not always easy words to obey.
Our pride, our social status, and our smug attitudes
are addressed by the Apostle Paul essentially because these are huge stumbling
blocks to living in harmony with one another.
I cannot serve Christ to the fullest and live aloof
from those who are different from me.
Different by their skin color, education, social
status or a host of other things we use to measure one another by.
There is a lot of finger pointing going on in our
culture today.
This group or that, or so we claim, are responsible
for our problems.
But what if, instead of finding fault (yes, it’s there
in each of us) what if instead you asked God to show you some way to encourage
and bless someone you have previously looked down on?
That’s a radical thought.
Go ahead, I dare you...
