“Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has
perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who
wait for him.”
Isaiah 64:4
When God calls you to do something it may be quite
some time before you actually walk in all that that call entails.
Often there are seasons of growth and learning,
seasons of doubt and setbacks all on the journey to answer that call.
The Children of Israel were called to take the
Promised Land.
You know the story.
They spent 40 years in the wilderness until the next
generation was raised up to fulfill the call the first generation missed.
When they did finally enter the Promised Land it wasn’t
taken overnight.
One by one they took the cities and the strategies to
take each city were seldom the same.
Has God called you for a specific purpose?
Then wait on Him for the timing, the training, the
strategies to accomplish what He has called you to do.
Rushing headlong into that calling is most often not
the wisest course.
Joshua received instruction from the Lord specific to
conquering Jericho.
The city of Ai presented setbacks that had to be dealt
with before any forward progress would be made in taking the land.
The point is simply this.
When God calls, He equips.
That equipping takes place as we spend time in His presence
and obediently doing and believing what He shows us.
