“Put on the full
armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Ephesians 6:11
Suppose a soldier was
supplied with a helmet, rifle, combat boots, a flak jacket and all the other
pieces of his uniform and equipment he needed to go into battle.
Now suppose he refused to wear it?
Until, that is, he
heard the enemy gunfire right outside his window.
Do you suppose he
might hurriedly put on his combat gear and grab his weapon?
I think he would.
How much better
though if he didn’t lose life threatening seconds finding it and putting it on.
We are in a spiritual
battle.
That means it is a
battle that is spiritually discerned and fought.
You cannot
necessarily see or hear the enemy with your natural eyes in the same way our
example soldier could but the enemy is no less real.
As a matter of fact,
he is even more real.
Because he is not
naturally seen or heard we can make the terrible
mistake of thinking
he does not exist.
Much of the church
behaves in this way.
This mistake can be
devastating to us as believers.
Not just because we
don’t believe the word concerning an enemy but also because we fail to use what
God has given us in this battle.
Have you put on the
whole armor of God?
Put it on and don’t
take it off!
