Is God Sovereign?

Today's blog post is contributed by David Trotta and it is a wonderful scriptural summary/review of the sovereignty of God:

He answers to no one.

“The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths." (Psalm 135:6)

His power has no limit.

“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted." (Job 42:2)

He knows everything.

"Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit." (Psalm 147:5)

He sees everything.

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (Hebrews 4:13)

He owns everything.

"The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters." (Psalm 24:1-2)

He sustains everything.

"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17)

He was, is, and always will be.

"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (Psalm 90:2)

Is God sovereign?  You bet He is!
