God Sifts Out the Easily Dissuaded

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13

How persistent are you?
How faithful are you?
If God has spoken and the promise is slow in coming, do you hold on and remain faithful?
If you’ve already waited 1,000 days; will you wait 1001?
When is it o.k. to give up?
How about never?
We were reminded on Sunday that to “…go after God is sometimes a hard thing but to ‘get hold’ of God is even harder.”
If it seems that God is hiding from you understand that He is asking you to pursue Him!
We don’t like that idea.
We would rather have God ‘served up’ in 45 minute messages after we have sung the obligatory ‘goose-bumps’ chorus.
Anything more just isn’t worth bothering about.
Does that sound harsh?
If so, then consider it from the Creator’s perspective (if that were possible).
We tell Him we will follow Him to the ends of the earth – but then that only applies if the ends of the earth are on my couch in front of my T.V.!
 OUCH!
God spoke clearly to us not to give up and not to give in.
Instead, we were encouraged to persevere in faithful pursuit of Him.
Like a man who has dug holes countless times in search of oil,
we should dig countless times plus 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+…
Don’t grow weary in your pursuit of God!
He’s sifting out the easily dissuaded.
