Love and Faithfulness

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you;

    bind them around your neck,

    write them on the tablet of your heart.”

Proverbs 3:3

Jesus said “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”

Today’s verse from the Book of Proverbs carries, in part, some similar words.

We are admonished to never let love and faithfulness to leave us.

They are not to be cyclical, seasonal or present when the ‘mood’ strikes us.

Love and faithfulness are not to be turned on and off in our life like a light switch.

On for those we like and off for those we don’t.

We are not given that option.

We are to love at all times.

We are to remain faithful even in the face of faithlessness from others.

We have no less than Jesus as our example.

He did not turn back at the Garden of Gethsemane knowing full well what He would soon face.

His love for us and His love for the Father drew Him forward to face the unspeakable punishment He would take for our sin.

That is love!

He pours His love into us that we might love others as He has loved us.

Will you take the time today to consider that admonition –

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you...”
