Taking Care of Babies

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk,

so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,”

I Peter 2:2

What are your expectations for a newborn baby?

Would you send them out to mow the lawn?

How about driving a car?

Of course that is silly; a newborn is not capable of such things.

Yet, so often, in our churches, we expect the newly saved to be instantly mature.

We lecture them on the sins they have failed to forsake as if we have become sinless ourselves.

Newborns eat, cry and sleep.

That’s about it.

Oh, one more thing – they sometimes make messes too!

We shouldn’t expect our cute little baby to clean their own diapers nor should we expect new babes in Christ to be instantly mature in all things spiritual.

Take the time to pray for them, teach them (humbly) and show them lovingly what others once showed you.

We are commanded to make disciples.

Don’t expect that to come without some labor pains!
