“Hopes placed in mortals die with them;
all the
promise of their power comes to nothing.”
Proverbs 11:7
Maybe it’s a politician, a successful businessperson,
some trendy musician or a Hollywood celebrity that you have placed your hope
in.
If that is the case then you will be greatly
disappointed when they pass from this life.
I have watched people mourn, some even going into deep
depression, after the death of the likes of John Kennedy or Elvis or Michael
Jackson.
They had placed their hope in these people, these
mortals.
Yes, they were gifted in their careers.
But hope placed in people is a tragically misplaced
hope when it is a substitute for placing our hope in God.
Here is how Psalm 147:11 expresses it:
“the Lord delights in those who fear
him,
who put their hope in his unfailing
love.”
Don’t settle for the empty power promises of those who
cannot deliver.
Put your hope in God.
He will never disappoint you!
