What do you suppose
Jesus’ thought life was like?
What was His mental attitude?
Maybe you’re thinking
– “I haven’t got a clue!”
But the truth is: we
don’t have to wonder.
We are told in Philippians
2:5-8 –
“In your
relationships with one another, have the
same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very
nature God,
did not consider equality with God
something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made
himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in
appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross.”
I don’t think it
would betray the tenure of these scriptures to say that the thought life of
Jesus was such that He was always considering how He might serve His Father.
Out of that mindset
came service for others.
That in itself is so
in keeping with the character of His Father.
His thoughts were not
thoughts of a proud, lifted up person but of a humble servant.
I could end today’s
post right there and it would be enough to challenge us for a
very, very long time.
If our lives are the
results of what we think we can ‘see’ Jesus’ thought life by the life He lived.
No wonder we are admonished
to renew our minds.
Becoming like Jesus
demands a changed way of thinking.
Are you ready for
that?
